Alois Carigiet (born August 30, 1902, in Trun, Graubünden; died August 1, 1985, in Trun) was known for his work as a Swiss painter, illustrator, lithographer, and children`s book author. Three of his best-known picture books are: `Schellen-Ursli`, `The Big Snow`, and `Flurina and the Wild Bird`. The book `Schellen-Ursli`, written by Selina Chönz, in particular, brought him national fame. The Engadine connection to nature and landscape is ever-present in Alois Carigiet`s drawings. These unique Carigiet paintings also make excellent kitchen utensils.
