Appenzell region puzzle, 500 pieces
When the herdsmen had to carry the large cowbells up the steep slopes during the alpine cattle drive to relieve the lead cows, the bells would ring on their own. This unintentional effect likely gave rise to the ritual of `Schölleschötte` (shaking the bells), which is consciously performed again after each drive to the alpine pastures once the herdsmen and animals have arrived safely. The puzzle image `Schölleschötte` is by the folk artist Theres Tobler.
