These moderately modern nativity figures were designed over 60 years ago - around 1960 - by Robert Hess. He was a carpenter, but had to give up his job for health reasons. That's why he turned to wood carving. Hess carved the nativity figures in his very own style: simple, harmoniously curved shapes without details, in natural, untreated linden wood.
